Helping Hands

raking-leaves“Have tools, will travel!” is the slogan of several in our congregation who are willing with a simple phone call to repair about anything around the house of those who are unable.  From changing light bulbs to running errands, they are ready to assist you.  They have been “helping hands” to many and want to be your helping hands as well.  Call the church office at 765-569-3563 when you need help, or if you would like to join this group of willing servants.  Helping Hands has cleaned gutters, planted a tree, repaired a broken storm door, replaced electrical sockets, rehung a closet door, re-sided a house and we are capable of doing more!

Worship

Worship_Image_520x300Worship is more than the music we sing on Sunday morning.  It’s being aware of God’s presence and giving Him glory in ALL that we do.  Worship can happen whenever and wherever we are!   The worship ministry of RCC exists, above all, to glorify God, worshiping Him in spirit and truth.

If you’d like to know more or get involved in any of these worship ministries, please contact Ronna Bemis.

Praise Team Vocalist & Musicians
Praise band & worship teams help prepare hearts for worship. Rehearsals vary according to members schedules.  Music styles blend traditional with  contemporary.

Special Music
Soloists, ensembles, duets and musicians are encouraged to be a part of our worship ministry.  New groups and ensembles are being developed.  Goals for the future include a children’s choir, teen/young adult ensemble, a women’s quartet or ensemble, a contemporary ensemble, and more!

Media Ministry
The goal of the Media Ministry is to help worshipers draw closer to God through what they see and hear.  Lighting, sound, video… the gift of technology can touch our senses and draw us into focus spiritually more than many people realize.  The video and audio technicians working behind the scenes are vitally important to the atmosphere of worship.  Commitment level varies.

Drama
Jesus often used parables to help people understand His messages more clearly.  Jesus’ parables used the familiar things of life to teach spiritual truth.  The use of drama is much the same for us today.  Dramas, whether monologues or short skits, can help draw out an important truth in the message presented from God’s Word.  If you have a “talent for the stage”, and would love to share that gift in ministry, please contact Pat or Ronna.

Women’s Ministry

WomensBibleStudiesRCC Women’s Ministries strive to bring women of all ages together to mentor, fellowship and to provide support for each other.

Christian Women’s Fellowship
CWF is a senior women’s ministry.  Their ministry is to honor the Lord in service to the church, the community and to world missions.  Monthly meetings are the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 1:30 PM.  Activities include the support of the local food pantry, a card ministry, F.A.M.E., mission speakers, Appalachian Christian Ministry, and Samaritan’s Purse gift boxes.  Ladies of CWF  and Women of Service cooperate in preparation of bereavements dinners, assistance with baptisms, maintenance of the kitchen and monetary contributions as needed to the church body.

Women of Service
Our mission is to be of service to the church, to maintain outreach to members of the church, and to provide opportunity for Christian fellowship and personal growth in their faith.  Women of Service is Christ-centered and serves through the love of God. Currently, the ladies meet the second Saturday of each month for breakfast (unless another activity is planned).  Meetings are held at the church Fellowship Hall at 8:30 AM.  Activities of the group are baptismal duties, working with the Christian Women’s Fellowship on Bereavement Committee, sending care packages to college students, women’s day activities such as our Annual Women’s Retreat, assisting the church body wherever needed, the Christmas Giving Tree for children of Parke County and sponsoring a Day Mission Trip or two to F.A.M.E. headquarters in Indianapolis.  All women are invited to attend and become involved in this ministry.

Women of Purpose
Women of Purpose is a Bible study group that meets every Monday (during the school year) from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.  Women of Purpose has been in existence for about 16 years.  Originally called “Mothering Matters,” the group was founded for young mothers to gather and get into God’s Word and to be a support for each other.  As our children grew, so did we.  Our group has changed from young mothers to women of all ages and several church backgrounds.  Our purpose is still the same – to study God’s Word and to provide support for each other.  Our group has definitely diversified and we invite all ladies to join us.
We have done numerous studies over the years from topical to studying specific books of the Bible.

Women’s Bible Study
Women of all ages gather on Monday evenings for a time of fellowship, prayer and study (and food!).  This Bible Study meets from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, generally at Janet Fahey’s home but occasionally at McVay Chiropractic offices.  Sandy Thurman and Tina Jacks lead the group through topic studies, books of the Bible and books by Christian authors.  Bring your Bible and a hunger for applying God’s Word and join us!

Women of Faith Conference
For the last several years, we have organized a group of women to attend the nearest Women of Faith Conference.  Registration information will be announced as it is available.  Visit the Women of Faith website for more information.

Men’s Ministry

mensMinistry Contact:  Phil Leonard

Our statement of purpose is to “Develop Men of Godly Character”.  To help accomplish our goal, men are involved in various ministries that include the study of God’s Word, fellowship and outreach.

Activities have included golf scrambles, a monthly men’s breakfast, go-kart racing, and softball games.  We hosted a cookout for school-aged kids and assisted with the missions breakfast for the church.  In the future, we plan to continue these types of activities so that men can gather and have fellowship with one another.

One goal we have is to start an outreach program into the community, ultimately bringing more men to know Christ and to help them along with ourselves to develop into men of godly character.  All men are encouraged to join us.

What We Believe

We believe in one God:  Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe God is the Creator of all things (seen and unseen).

We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s one and only Son, who was born (on earth) from a virgin, and who through His death and resurrection became the Savior of the world.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, who dwells within every Christian.

We believe the Bible is the inerrant and inspired Word of God and the final authority on matters of faith.

We believe man, created by God, willingly sinned against God and is therefore lost and without hope apart from Jesus Christ.

We believe that salvation for mankind comes by grace through the blood of Jesus Christ (his death on the cross).

We believe that the Bible teaches that the pattern to follow in order to receive Jesus as Savior is to believe in Christ as God’s Son and Savior of the world, to repent  (or turn) from personal sin, to confess Christ as Lord, and to be immersed in baptism.

We believe the church is the body and bride of Christ, founded on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2), and consisting of all Christians everywhere.

We believe it is God’s plan for the elders to lead the local church.

We believe that death seals the eternal destiny of each person.  Those who have been saved will inherit eternal life;  the unsaved eternal separation from God.
